Joseph Wilhelm is a documentary photographer with a foundation in medium format film and a Master of Arts degree in Art (1992).
By 1999 Joseph adopted digital technology coupled with a traditional 4×5 view camera and Betterlight scan-back. Professional experience includes consulting and collaboration as well as catalog and magazine photography of art and craft products ranging from jewelry and fine art to outdoor apparel (Holly Yashi Jewelry, Tomas Jewelry, Kokatat Water Sports, Bead Unique Magazine).
Current photography interests remain the same as his early student work (see Dry Earth portfolio). The primary focus of this website has an eye on the cultural landscape and people’s interaction with the environment. An emphasis on the cultural landscape has become associated with the Anthropocene.
In addition to personal photo-work represented on this website Joseph remains active in providing professional services as Meridian Fine Art. He lives and works in Northern California amongst redwood trees and ocean air near the town of Blue Lake. More about Joseph can be found at the following websites.
