Leslie writes of his work, "Since I began painting I have always
been interested in some aspect of nature as the content of my
paintings. Sometimes when looking at plants in gardens, planters
or in nature, I sense a mysterious force that causes everything to
grow in such variety and beauty, and I am in awe.
"I have painted representationally and abstractly. I take pleasure
in observing the detail and beauty of a plant and painting it. I also
aspire to paint how the plant or flower and its complexity and mystery,
affect me. I paint abstract to create a visual metaphor of what I have
experienced on an emotional, psychological or spiritual level."
