Services Provided
We provide in-house photography, we design business cards,
postcards, and tear sheets, and we provide printing and
printer management services.
We work with both Digital SLR and 4x5 cameras with low UV continuous
lighting for exposure. We design for print using the latest
versions of Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. And with our high
resolution pigment printers we can publish your work as fine art
prints on canvas or rag paper. We also manage offset printing
for items such as business cards and note cards.
Whether you work with delicate pastels or pencils, oils, acrylics,
watercolors, digital originals or photographs, your original art
can be reproduced, marketed and sold as posters, note cards and/or
art prints.
What is an Art Print?
Many have heard the term giclée (zhee-clay) or Iris print.
Both are digital prints. The term giclée is a euphemism
for inkjet printing and Iris is a trade name that refers to the
first inkjet printer able to produce “art quality” prints. Since
the introduction of the Iris printer in 1991, digital printing via
inkjet printers has blossomed and diversified.
Meridian Design works with large format Epson printers, water and
fade resistant pigment ink and archival medias. There is no dot
to see and often prints are difficult to discern from originals.
Whether or not a digital print is an art print is in the eye of
the beholder but the implication is that one sees no sign of the
mechanical process and that materials are chosen for their
durability and “artistic” qualities. It is accurate to say that
our printing process is known as giclée but we generally
avoid the euphemism and favor terms such as pigment print, digital
print, inkjet print or art print.
