Petroglyph Over Petroglyph, Lincoln County, Nevada, 2004
Petroglyph Over Petroglyph was photographed in the morning of
August 14, 2005. This photograph documents "prehistoric" marks common
to the Great Basin. Seen here is an example of superimposition where a
pre-existing motif lies beneath a more recent one. Seen also is natural
erosion (spalling) of the rhyolite boulder possibly threatening the
integrity of the petroglyphs.
