Sand Springs Pony Express Station, Sand Mountain, Nevada, 2005
Sand Springs Pony Express Station was photographed in the
morning of August 22, 2005. The basalt boulder wall seen in the
foreground is the remains of the 1860's corral. In the distance
is Sand Mountain, also known to the Northern Paiute as Kwazi for the
name of the snake that inhabits the dunes. Sand Mountain is a popular
motorized vehicle recreation area.
