I just read from the US National Weather Service, Eureka, that:
“According to the Cal OES wildfire list, the 9 named fires/complexes in the Eureka forecast area have burned 72, 241 acres of land since July 30, 2015. And they are still burning. To put that into perspective, the total acreage of land burned is almost 2.5 times larger than the city of San Francisco.”
Even surrounded by refreshing ocean air, the residue of destruction is palpable in the eerie and eye-burning smoke infused light.
